Yesterday I spent most of my day sat on the mower, mowing Nora’s grass. It was an insane amount of fun, though I am paying for it today in the form of back ache. The vibration of the mower really does you in - I felt like I was still vibrating for a good 20 minutes afterwards.
I then cooked a dinner of roasted vegetable pasta for Martha & I. I also roasted a whole pumpkin which ended up kind of mushy, so I added some curry powder and intend to make a potato and pumpkin curry in the not so distant future.
Today we were up nice and early (6:30AM!) to feed the animals and toss pumpkins into the field before the public arrived. I was then hurled straight into non-stop tours from 9:30AM-2PM. Hectic stuff! I did 4 in total and most of the kids were lovely. All different age ranges, the little ones challenged me with their short attention spans and disinterest for knowledge about the animals.
Late this afternoon I went to the mall with Lauren, who works at the farm, and her boyfriend Mike. Though not before I had a hearty portion of leftover stew from the other night - I shredded the beef before heating it up and gosh, it was tasty!
Today I finally had a successful mall trip, managing to spend some of my dosh. I love shopping in America. Before I get home I always think I’ve spent too much and feel a pang of regret, until I tot it all up, bang the total into the conversion calculator and realise I’ve only spent a fraction of what I thought! Today’s haul cost me around £60.00 and I got:
- 2 camisoles (1 pink, 1 purple) in a snake skin print - Pacsun
- Bracelets, earrings, manicure kit - Forever21
- Hand Relief hand cream to rescue my poor digits from dryness - Aveda
- Awesome Obama t-shirt - Zumez
- Smashbox Photo Finish Primer - Sephora
We then topped off the evening by getting fries from Five Guys. I haven’t eaten fries since I arrived here and, to be honest, I had a craving. We thoroughly satisfied ourselves with a large portion ($4.99), tons of ketchup and a big soda to share.
Here’s Lauren and Mike enjoying their fries..

I need to go back to try the Five Guys burgers though, apparently they may be the epic sized burgers that I have been searching for. And, come to think of it, I need to check out that awesome local diner I saw nearby!
So much food to try and not enough stomach space or time in the day..
