Pumpkins in Maryland

So this whole pumpkin picking on the farm thing is kind of hilarious. They grow some here but nowhere near enough to cover demand and it turns out pumpkins aren’t very easy to grow either. So they ship in crate loads of pumpkins (only from down the road, might I add) to then toss across a field. Then the kids come round on the hay ride truck and hop out to choose a pumpkin. This afternoon we spent an hour and a half tossing 6 or so of these crates across the field with our own bare hands. I can tell you, pumpkin stems are really bloody prickly.

We also fed the animals. My favourite so far is the adorable emu who is just so friendly! Tomorrow I start my tour guide induction. It’s only just gone 9PM but I think I am going to have to sleep soon, I’m aching and besides I’ve gotta be out of the house by 7:30AM tomorrow.

Night night!
